Our Whitefield Centre makes provision for up to 50 Year 11 pupils through it's various and well-considered pathways. Whitefield has a teaching facility on site and connects pupils to vocational programmes based at Bury College, Red Box AP, Achieve Training, Music for Young People, Brighter Futures and the College of Rugby. The provision works closely with these partners to secure appropriate curriculum pathways for pupils, in their best interests, where mainstream education is felt to be not meeting need for these these young people, and a blend of AP and wrap around core education at Whitefield would be appropriate
Pupils attending via Whitefield provision have a curriculum offer of;
Pupils placed across colleges and training providers can select from various vocational options based on their career aspirations, some examples are;
The curriculum is responsive to the offer from vocational providers and is supported with interventions from Youth Workers who support on attendance and safeguarding at the various provisions, but also support personal development, careers and enterprise.
Given the bespoke nature of our offer and commissioning with Alternative Provision to deliver a broad curriculum offer, typical timetable at Whitefield can vary per pupil.
Lessons on-site start at 9.15am and finish at 2pm, and we aim for over 20 hours per week of education per pupil.
There is no set uniform at Whitefield for our Year 11s, but we expect that pupils wear appropriate clothing to school, that maintains a safe and professional environment.
